A VERSE IN THE BOOK OF JOHN: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS. In John 8;12, Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." What comforting words from Jesus! No matter how deep the pain is, how hard the struggles push us to the limit, how crushing the blows of a grim diagnosis hit us, how low we get when loneliness strikes, how strong fear paralyzes us, we can always count on Jesus if we only focus our eyes on him.
There was a brief moment in time today where parts of the world experienced a total solar eclipse. As we focused our eyes on the sun, we needed a special kind of glasses to view this majestic sight. For me, the experience of this special event brought immense awe and gratitude for God's wondrous creations. It gave me a deeper insight on looking at light with special glasses. The more I follow Jesus and focus my eyes on him as our light in this world, I get a clearer vision on what really matters. When I focus on him, the darkness brought on by pain, struggles, fear, anxiety, worry, rejection, and loss only lingers for just a brief moment in time. Just like a total solar eclipse.
