refocus and delight

Today is my maternal grandmother's birthday. I thought I'd take a moment and reflect on how she inspired me to have a closer relationship with God.

When I was about 8 years old, I remember her praying over me when I experience episodes of asthma. She would let me rest after fervently praying for my healing. And after a few minutes, I would be back on my feet playing with my siblings and childhood friends. The miracles happened over and over again...

My grandmother's faith in the Lord was profound. I remember her reading the Bible everyday and praising God all throughout the day. She never complained of excruciating pain while having cancer. She trusted the Lord for strength and healing to get her through the day.

As I look back on my spiritual journey, I feel grateful for her laying the foundation for my faith. I feel truly blessed to have her around until I was 9 years old. She was truly an exceptional role model of someone who had a deep love for God and exemplified God's love by serving others around her.

Cheers to my grandmother who is probably singing praises with her operatic voice in heaven!
