create and evolve

THE RETURN OF THE SURGICAL CAP. I remember the day when I sewed my first surgical cap. I found a colorful floral fabric at the store and decided to use it for a cap. As many of you know, I dislike using patterns and following recipes. So, I traced a round paper plate on the fabric for the top of the head and made a strip to go around the forehead. When I wore it to work the next day, my coworkers thought it was cute and I looked like Aunt Jemima. It turned out as a big bouffant cap😂

Two weeks ago, my aunt asked if I can make surgical caps for her and her co-workers. The first thought that came to mind was finding a simple pattern. It has been a long time since I've sewn one. Looking back at how long I worked in the operating room, I can't believe I've only sewn a few surgical caps. I strongly believe that if I was keen on following a pattern, I would have sewn more than I wanted to. That would have been a good excuse to have a stash of fabrics that I didn't have then!

After watching 3 tutorials on YouTube, I found one that is easy to follow (see link below). This is what I made:

Note: may need to modify and increase measurements to make a larger cap.
