IKEA SEWING WORKSHOP. As an Ikea Family Member, I receive countless emails about promotions and events. I usually open the emails and check them out because I'm a big IKEA fan. It was a week before Valentine's Day when I received an email and checked out the events of the nearest IKEA location. One of the events was a free sewing workshop! In my excitement to attend the workshop, I went to the store two days before the event when my attempts to register online didn't work. The IKEA employee that I spoke with at the store was not aware of the workshop. He got my contact information and promised that he will assist me with the registration. Much to my delight, I was registered that same day. Another employee followed up to ensure I was registered for the event.
I learned that the IKEA Costa Mesa location partners with a sewing store and holds quarterly sewing workshops. A small section of the restaurant was converted into a sewing space with approximately 10 Bernina sewing machines. The owner of the sewing store as well as the store's instructor were there to promote the machines and teach the class. The precut fabrics and materials were provided. All I had to do was sew a zigzag stitch on the applique, stuff the pillow, and sew the seams. It was a fun event with passionate sewists!
