tweak and nourish

A NEED FOR CHANGE. It has been a week since I had an appointment with my family doctor to discuss my lipid panel with abnormal results. Deep down, I know why the results are high. I wasn't able to control my cravings and food choices when I went on a cruise and two family vacations. I find myself in the same situation six years ago when I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes.I was able to reverse it after a year of healthy eating and consistent exercise regimen. It also helped that I lived in downtown Los Angeles where I walked around town all the time.

These are some of the dishes I prepared last week:

ree
Field greens, quinoa, sweet potato, cucumber, and flaked baked salmon with homemade peanut dressing

ree
Field greens, carrots, green beans, broccoli, cucumber, crispy tofu with peanut dressing

ree
Field greens, carrots, apples, cucumber, baked salmon, avocado with peanut dressing

ree
Cauliflower rice, carrots, field greens, cucumber, quinoa, and sardines

ree
Avocado, Mango, Banana Smoothie topped with Blueberries and Pistachios

ree
Homemade Turkish Flatbread (whole wheat) topped with mozzarella cheese, basil, tomato sauce, and broccoli

Homemade Peanut Dressing/ Sauce with Kewpie Deep Roasted Sesame

Homemade Peanut Dressing: Peanut butter, Olive oil, Soy Sauce, Honey, Rice Vinegar, Chili Sauce, Garlic, Fresh Ginger, Miso, Lime, Hoisin Sauce. Optional: add Kewpie Deep Roasted Sesame. When added, it had the perfect consistency.
