AWAKEN AND DELIGHT

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.

REFOCUS AND DELIGHT

A NEW YEAR, A NEW BEGINNING: A TIME TO REMAIN ROOTED IN GOD'S PRESENCE.

I am eager to begin the new year with a renewed focus on deepening my relationship with God. Each year, I select a guiding word or two to enhance my connections with God and others. For 2024, I chose CONNECTION and COMMITMENT—connection with God and others, and commitment to God and others. By embracing these principles, I have become consistent in my daily quiet time with God and intentional in reaching out to family and friends. It's not enough for me to simply make a connection; I am driven to sustain it through commitment. To my inner circle, I prioritize regular calls and weekly text messages. For those seeking my counsel, I diligently follow up on their well-being and encourage them to celebrate small victories. These actions have led to positive outcomes beyond my expectations, and my God-honoring intentions have brought breakthroughs in my marriage.

This year, I confidently choose ABIDE as my guiding word. In a previous blog post, I referenced John 15:5 NKJV, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing." This scripture evokes the image of an electrical cord connected to its power source. We indeed need God to empower us to fulfill His will and purpose for our lives.

I choose ABIDE as a powerful reminder to rely on God to transform my life, starting with my habits. In my pursuit of discipline, I need God's strength to persevere when I feel lazy to exercise, tempted by unhealthy foods, or inclined to sleep less than six hours.

By choosing ABIDE, I embrace the grace to extend to myself and others, foster a willingness to forgive, and develop the discernment necessary to establish boundaries.
